Remote and Flexible Learning

This lockdown certainly leaves us all feeling a range of emotions. By us, I mean; students, families, staff and services all connected to the Concord community. We know we are doing the right thing by adhering to the restrictions and providing Remote and Flexible Learning, however we all prefer to see the smiling faces that make Concord school the wonderful place it is each and every day! We look forward to the restrictions being eased and welcoming students back onsite in two weeks time.

The staff at Concord have been working hard to provide a smooth transition for the continuation of learning allowing students to participate and complete tasks from home. Whilst learning has been provided for Reading, Writing, Mathematics and Specialist subjects, teams are also providing wellbeing check-ins through Webex sessions, lunch time hangouts and assemblies. Some sections have set up Help Desks where students can drop in for some further support beyond their morning lessons. If you need any assistance, we are here to help, so please email your classroom teacher, myself (flora.nixon@education.vic.gov.au) or call the office.

Here are some tips to revisit with your child to establish healthy learning habits at home:

Student Support Group Meetings (SSGs)

Last Tuesday we saw our Variation to School Day being held via WebEx to facilitate the SSG meetings for Term 3. These were positively attended by families, students and in some instances external services. It was a positive experience for students to share their proud moments, for therapists to share their expertise and for parents/carers and classroom teachers to have an open dialogue around student progress. The Specialist team had some families/carers come along to hear about their child’s progress in their program so far or to hear about the possibilities for next semester.

These meetings are so valuable as we continue to strengthen our home and school partnership within Concord school. Fingers crossed our next SSG meetings will be held face to face!

Take care,
