Principal's Report

Home School Learning

I write to you at the end of what has been another challenging week for many of us. The school aims to provide a variety of easily accessible tasks to improve the learning of each child and engage with them through whole class, small group and individual online meetings. We encourage parents to support your child to the extent that your family circumstances allow you to. The health and wellbeing of you and your children is our priority at this time.

As you know, due to the ongoing level of community transmission of coronavirus in Victoria, the current lockdown across Melbourne has been extended until 11:59pm on Thursday 2 September. We request parents, carers and families continue to do the right thing by following all health directives. This includes making careful and supportive choices about accessing on-site supervision at school.

Many photos of children learning from home and participating in online meetings have been featured on the school Facebook page. We have had some fantastic photos of students painting, writing, drawing, cooking and engaging in physical activity. We are proud of the work our students are producing whether they are learning on-site or from home and we will keep supporting them to achieve their personal best.

There are a number of supports available. These include:

Student Eligibility for Vaccinations

The Australian Technical Advisory Group on Immunisation (ATAGI) has advised that children aged between 12 to 15 years old are now eligible to receive a Pfizer COVID-19 vaccine if they:

People aged 16 years and older continue to also be eligible under these categories, to get a COVID-19 vaccine.

ATAGI will provide further advice on the broader 12-to-15-year age group in coming months. As more COVID-19 vaccine doses become available, more people will be able to get vaccinated.

Eligible young people and their parents or guardians should speak to their doctor if they have questions about the COVID-19 vaccine and their health.

For more information about eligibility, refer to coronavirus.vic.gov.au or use the Australian Government’s COVID-19 vaccine eligibility checker.

Principal Award-  Charlie Dowsett

Charlie showcases Concord School values during lessons and playing on the yard. As the school year progresses, she is gaining confidence to become a leader among her peers and often gives gentle guidance to those who need a helping hand. She is an active participant in remote learning by sending through work that she is proud of and participating in live lessons. Charlie consistently shows respect to staff and students at the Watsonia Campus and is a deserving recipient of the Principal's Award.

Congratulations to Charlie !
