Curriculum

What a fantastic week of remote learning we had last week. Thank you again to all the families for your support during these challenges. It was great to see so much excitement and engagement around our Science Week activities, we hope the students enjoyed completing different experiments!

In Literacy, students learned about text to self connections, where they make a connection between something in a book and something in their own life. It was great to see so many interesting connections, like 'I have a friend who speaks a different language', 'I've played basketball before' and 'I have made new friends before'.

Students also completed some exciting writing tasks about Science Week and we asked students for help to come up with some new ideas for our weekly Choice Board. We were so excited by the student's interesting ideas such as: fine motor skills, mastermind (a maths game we play in class), make your own picture book, cooking, vegetable art using stamps and directed drawing. We had so many interesting ideas that we couldn't fit them all in this week's choice board, but keep an eye out to see what the students suggested for our Choice Board.

In Mathematics, we focused on Location. Students were provided lots of fun activities in which they could practise using location key words to find and describe the location of different objects. The week finished with students having the opportunity to make a treasure map and use key words to describe how to get to the treasure.

For our Choice Board, we had a science focus to help celebrate Science Week. We hope that students had fun completing experiments on Google Meet and at home. It was great to see lots of students trying out the taste test, rubber egg and balloon experiments!

Have a fantastic week,

Miss Dawson, Miss Tossell and Miss Henwood
