Principal's Message

Term 3 Week 7

Last week we held our SSG meetings for our funded students. Thank you to parents and carers who attended via zooms and staff for all their work around reports and goals for students.

Kindergarten

Unfortunately our Kindergarten is now under restrictions and only students of essential workers or deemed vulnerable can attend onsite.  I apologise for any confusion but the Kinder and School are operating under different rules supplied by the Department. The situation and guidelines continue to evolve and we will communicate as soon as any changes occur. Thank you everyone for your patience and support.

ICAS

All ICAS assessments have now been rescheduled for Term 4. The new dates will be advertised once they become available.

If you have any questions please contact Matt O’Hern.

Survey

Thank you to everyone that filled out the survey last week. Once the responses have been analysed I will share with you all the results and any changes to Remote Learning.

Pupil of the Week

Ally initiated a Pupil of the Week for all of our teaching staff (earlier in the year we had presented our amazing ES staff with Pupil of the Week awards.)

Just as students enjoy receiving their awards in the mail, Ally thought this would be a surprise for staff. Matt, Andrew and Erin B and myself created lots of different awards.

Playground Closed

Our playgrounds are now closed to the public and can only be accessed by onsite students during school hours.

Face Masks in Schools

  1. Please see the Department of Health website for the latest face mask requirements as advice may change at short notice

As directed by the Victorian Chief Health Officer, the following advice applies to all school settings:

  • School staff and secondary school students aged 12 or older must always wear a face mask indoors and outdoors at school, including when attending an Outside School Hours Care (OSHC) program, unless a lawful exception applies.
  • It is recommended that children under 12 years of age and students at primary school wear face masks when at school, or when attending an OHSC program.
  • For communication purposes, teachers and education support staff are not required to wear face masks while teaching, but those who wish to do so, can. It is recommended that face masks be worn while teaching wherever practicable.
  • Face masks are mandatory for all school staff and school students aged 12 or older when travelling to and from school on public transport and when in taxis or ride share vehicles and recommended for primary school aged students.

Assembly

Hear from our student leader Shriya about Mindfulness and hear about Miss Lucky.

Wellbeing Night

On Thursday August 19 we held our inaugural online Wellbeing Night where we showcased the wellbeing programs and initiatives offered at our school. During the session, students, teachers, school leadership, and parent presenters discussed the Zones of Regulation, Character Strengths, Circle Time, gratitude, growth mindset, mindfulness, and the Let's TALK program. The Wellbeing School Improvement Team also premiered our Community Wellbeing Hub website - which, although still a work in progress, offers useful information about our programs as well as wellbeing resources for students and families. This is a 'living' website which will be added to regularly - so it's worth bookmarking and checking often for exciting updates!

The evening was very well attended and was met with positive feedback from parents and carers. Thank you to our student and staff presenters and attendees, parent presenters Rebecca Smith and Jacqueline Leou, and to all our community members who joined us on the night. The information session was recorded and is available to stream on our new Community Wellbeing Hub

Book Week

It's Book Week!!

Time to celebrate the joy of reading and books with some fun activities! This week, the school has a few virtual activities planned.

On Wednesday 25th, it is dress up day! We encourage students to dress up as a book character they love and join their morning Zoom or Google Meet check ins to show off their costumes to their classes and teachers. We ask that students then take a photo of themselves in their costumes and share this on Seesaw so that teachers can compile a slideshow of photos for a 'virtual parade' to be shown in class check ins on Thursday.

On Thursday 26th, some MPRPS teachers will be hosting a Story Time Zoom. Students from across the school can choose a book that they would like to listen to and the teachers will read aloud the book for students to enjoy. This will be happening at 2:30pm. You can find the Zoom details in the table below.

Finally, on Friday 27th, Mrs Streitberger will be announcing the winners of the best dressed for each year level from our virtual parade.

You can also READ, LISTEN and CREATE using the Book Week choice board below. Tap on the pictures to take you to links and FUN!

Have a great week everyone, and HAPPY READING!
