Principal's Update

Dear Parents and Carers,

Due to changes in the restrictions for school sport, our normal sporting program is now able to resume. From tomorrow, netball clinics will recommence with Netball Victoria for all students in Years 3-6.  As of next week, each Monday students will also have the opportunity to participate in tennis clinics, thanks to a grant from the Australian Tennis Foundation.  The clinics will be provided by local coach, Geoff Hollow.

Given the current testing requirements, our skiing program is being reviewed and more information will be provided to families asap.

Unfortunately, at this time there has not been any change to the restrictions around whole school gatherings and assemblies, so these will continue to be held online, within classrooms.

In preparation for next month’s Jump Rope for Heart challenge, all students are now practising their skills regularly at school.  As many of our ropes were sent home for students to practise during remote learning, it is essential that all ropes are returned to school asap.

Next week is Book Week! Our parade will be held on Friday 13th August and all students are encouraged to come dressed up as their favourite book character.  Next week, we will also hold our Book Fair.  This is a great fundraiser for our school library and a chance for students to pick up a great book or two.  More information regarding this will be sent out shortly.

Thank you to those parents and students who volunteered their time to contribute to our school review through online meetings.  These meetings have helped to inform the focus of the review and future direction of the school.

Next week, our school will be inviting families the opportunity to participate in the annual survey of Parent/Carer Opinion.  This is offered by the Department of Education and Training and is conducted amongst a sample of randomly selected parents and carers (previously known as the Parent Opinion Survey). The survey is designed to assist schools in gaining an understanding of families’ perceptions of school climate, student behaviour, student engagement and experiences of remote and flexible learning. Our school will use the survey results to help inform and direct future school planning and improvement strategies.  Approximately 30 per cent of parents will be invited to participate in this year’s survey. All responses to the survey are anonymous. The survey will be conducted online from Monday 9th August through until Friday 3rd September and only takes 20 minutes to complete. The online survey will be available in a range of languages other than English, including Arabic, Vietnamese, Mandarin, Chin (Hakha), Hindi, Japanese and Punjabi.
