Celebrating our tremendous Threes and fabulous Fours !

Grade 3/4 have been exploring lots of different types of poetry over the last week.

We have been learning all about different poetry devices and language features. Here is an example of a colour poem and a Cinquain. A Cinquain is a five lined poem that follows a particular syllable pattern. In this example, Onomatopoeia has also been used.

This week, Lachie finalised his "Genius Hour" project and presented his findings to the class. It sparked a productive conversation that included various theories!

In Week 9, students in 3/4D explored various poetic devices and used them to great effect within their own poems. Here is a poem written by Isla. S about a recent holiday destination.

3/4E have been creating some beautiful poetry these last two weeks. Students participated in an online poetry workshop with Bundjalung-Gumbayngirr poet, Dakota Feirer, as part of Threatened Species Day and were guided through writing their own nature poems. We have also explored different types of poetry including limericks, haikus, cinquain poems and colour poetry, as well as poetic devices and rhyming patterns. It has been wonderful to see their creativity and vocabulary grow!
