Wellbeing

Welcome to our Wellbeing Page
Hi everyone,
As we finish up this term, I would like to acknowledge the resilience in us all! Well done to all students for their hard work and dedication to their learning over this term and finding the strength to keep on going when some days it was hard to find that motivation. I have been onsite at Monty PS each day during lockdown and have been privileged to work with the students who have come to school. Each morning I have met the students at the gate and witnessed their smiles, positivity and happiness to be able to socialise with others.
I have included some Wellbeing activities that individually or as a family you may like to do these school holidays. When you have a moment, have a look at the 'September Holiday Ideas' section of the newsletter, for some different ways to keep busy over the next two weeks.
Take care and spread kindness whenever you can,
Fiona

Gratitude Activities
MY FAVOURITE THINGS
As we grow up, many of us have special toys/objects that we own that we absolutely love! What is one of your favourite things that you own? It might be an old teddy/doll that you don’t use anymore but still love or it might be your favourite thing at the moment. Go and find your favourite thing! Now find some pens and a piece of paper. Write or draw a story about your favourite thing describing how it gives you comfort when you are with it. Try and show how it makes you feel. Perhaps you can thank it for all the times it has comforted you.
Mrs George's Favourite Thing is my bookcase full of books.
#DISMOMENTS
What is a #DISMOMENT? Watch this video to find out. Click here.
We are going to practise #DIS just like the video.
Think about things at home that you are grateful/thankful for.
Now you can go and point out things in the house you are grateful for and say DIS.
- Take photos of them and the things they are pointing to.
- Go for a walk in the backyard or in the street and encourage children to point to things they are grateful for and say DIS.
- Take photos of them and the things they are pointing to.
NB: Children will really enjoy taking their own photos too.
Once you have all the photos you can use them to create a #DISMOMENT poster/slideshow/book

Mindfulness Activities
LET'S GET CREATIVE
Being creative is a wonderful way to focus our mind. When we are immersed in creating an object, we are being mindful. So it's time to start creating. Click here for a clip on making a pom pom using scissors, cardboard and wool. Watch the clip and follow along.
If making a pom pom is not your idea of fun or mindfulness, then how about making a tower of cards. Click here to watch this video on how it can be done.
Good luck.
