Grade 5/6 Students
Celebrating our fantastic Fives and sensational Sixes!
The 5/6s have been such troopers during this remote learning period that we thought we would try something different by introducing ‘Kids in the Kitchen’! Last week, we made chocolate balls! We all had a such a fun, sticky time! The students then had to write up the recipe for someone else to follow!

This week, we had a ‘buddy session’ – we went on a virtual scavenger hunt with them! Finding things that start with different sounds, colours , living things and something that makes us happy! It was so nice to see everyone’s smiling faces – we then followed up by writing a letter to our buddy to share with them!

Valeria created this amazing years book piece to showcase her understanding of area. Well done!

Miette created this wonderful artwork showing her skills when creating 3D illusions. Well done!

In 5/6, we have begun to incorporate cooking into one literacy session a week, because, who doesn’t like food? It has been a great way to break up the week, and to create authentic writing opportunities including procedures and menus. Last week saw us create the always popular Chocolate Balls, with many biscuits being nibbled at along the way. We then wrote a procedure, listing the ingredients and steps to take so that these can be made for months to come! Keep an eye out for more news on our upcoming recipes including this week’s fan favourite, pizzas!
