Education in Faith

Galilee Prayer Group

The Galilee Prayer Group meets every Friday morning at 8:15am until 8:35am. All members of the Galilee school community are welcome. The objective of this Prayer Group is to pray for any needs of the school, the well-being of the students, staff and families and the parishes of Sts Peter and Paul and OLMC. You don't need any qualifications or experience to attend. If you have a confidential prayer request, forms will be distributed at the beginning of  Week Five for you to fill in. Then please drop these into the box which will be in the Administration foyer. We look forward to The Galilee Friday Morning Prayer Group growing and flourishing.

Prayer Requests

Please find attached a prayer request that your family is welcome to fill in, print and put in the box in the Administration area.

We wish to keep your prayers confidential and request that they remain unidentifiable. Then each week the Galilee Prayer Team will pray for you and the needs of your family. You might like to discuss with your family what you might like others to pray for you and your family.

Feast of the Assumption

The Church celebrates The Feast Day of the Assumption of Mary on the 15th of  August. According to the Catholic faith, Mary, “having completed her course of her earthly life, was assumed body and soul into heavenly glory”.

Defined as an article of faith by Pope Pius XII just over half a century ago, the Assumption signals the end of Mary’s earthly life and marks her return to heaven to be reunited with Jesus. While the bodies of both Jesus and Mary are now in heaven, there is a difference between the Assumption and the Resurrection. Where Jesus arose from the tomb and ascended into heaven by his own power, Mary’s body was taken up to heaven by the power of her Son.

For this reason we use different words to describe each event. One is the Ascension of Christ and the other, the Assumption of Mary.

Grandparents and Special Friend's Day Mass

Due to a change to the Dendy Athletics date (usually a week before), Grandparents' and Special Friend's Day has had to change to Tuesday 20 August.  There will be a Mass at St Peter and Paul's Church at 9:00am (once all students have arrived at the church), followed by classroom visits and a Morning Tea. All Grandparents and Special Friends are welcome to visit the Book Fair during Morning Tea time.

If there are any grandparents who have made arrangements to come in on the Monday and are unable to come in on Tuesday 20 August, please contact Helen Rochecouste and we will cater for you: hrochecouste@gsm.vic.edu.au

We welcome all Grandparents and Special Friend's  of the students of Galilee on August the 20th and look forward to a wonderful time together.
