There are many fascinating projects, and these will be on display for other students at recess and lunchtime.  Congratulations to all students on the creativity they have shown.

The final round of the WADL Debating League Schools’ competition was held at Christchurch College on Tuesday. It was  very  successful with all our Years 12, 11, 10 and Year 8 teams winning, along with two of the Year 7 teams, whilst our Year 9 teams debated extremely well, losing narrowly against strong opposition.  The WADL make-up round takes place this Wednesday evening, and results will determine whether a couple of teams make the finals.  However, congratulations to the Year 7 team of Maya Mintz, Wesley Soares, Hannah Johnson and Meg Derbyshire who won again on Tuesday to complete their qualifying rounds undefeated and win the zone pennant.  Congratulations to all teams and special thanks to our many supportive parents and the teachers, Ms Kirralee Dawson, Ms Maryanne Lumley, Deacon Aaron Peters, Ms Bonita Devanand and Ms Debra Needham for their great assistance to the teams.

Our senior Mock Trials team, headed by Magis leaders Rory Hewson, Charlie Richards and Cullen Binet had another great win against a strong Rossmoyne Highschool team last Monday at the Supreme Courts, and is undefeated after three rounds. Congratulations to the team and to Ms Daisy Farley and Ms Morgan Ball for their outstanding work with   the students.  Rory, Charlie and Cullen are key members of the Year 12 Interschool debating team and Rory and Cullen will team up with Aden Cleghorn and Xavier Carr in the Jesuit National Debating Championships at Xavier College in Melbourne at the start of the coming holidays. World scholar’s Cup teams for the Global round in Sydney next term are also being finalised, and  further details will be in next week’s newsletter.
