Principal's Report

8th May 2020

Welcome to our second edition of the “Learning from Home’ Newsletter!  As we move into our fifth week of ‘remote learning’, the Wheelers Hill PS  learning platform continues to expand and develop.  The staff have been working at a fierce pace creating weekly lessons and conducting whole class and small group Webex sessions. I would like to take this opportunity to thank our parents again for the incredible support that you are providing for your child/ren within this new and challenging remote learning situation, and to our staff for being so resilient, adaptable and flexible with our current situation. Thank you a well to our parents for completing the recent surveys on our remote learning programs. We have altered our programs to accommodate some of the suggestions and ideas you gave us.

Prep 2021 Enrolments

Prep enrolments for 2021 are still open. Information about enrolment and forms are available via our school website under the enrolment tab. You are welcome to scan and email the Enrolment Form and required documentation to: wheelers.hill.ps@education.vic.gov.au.

Alternatively you are also welcome to put the form and associated documents in a envelope and put them in the letter box at the front of the school.

If you are current family at school and are enrolling a Prep student for next year, I encourage you to do ASAP so we can confirm our numbers.

Due to the Coronavirus we have cancelled all school tours. We will open more tours as soon as we can.

Buildings and Grounds Update

With the school empty of students and staff, it has been a good opportunity to work on some building and grounds updates around the school. Along with the playground updates that were finished last week we has also been able to repair and grow back the bare patches in the oval and remove and replace the sleepers around the junior playground. Over the next week few weeks, the school will also have areas of asbestos removed as part of a government initiative to remove asbestos from all schools in Victoria by 2023.
