Principal's Message

Dear Families,

All families have now had the opportunity to pass on valuable information during our Meet The Teacher sessions. Staff have enjoyed the process and found it invaluable. We encourage all parents/guardians to communicate regularly with their child's teacher. Our Preps are at school for a full week for the first time in 2017 and they have been making great progress.

This week, the classroom teachers have been meeting with each other to analyse data to better differentiate the learning of the students. While data is sometimes an assessment or test it can also be samples of work. It is usually taken before a unit of work to guide learning and afterwards, to measure growth.

Last Wednesday, the school staff together with students, Ethan & Charlotte (School Captains) and parents  (Donna , Brendan and Trevour) to complete a draft of a new Vision Statement for Galilee. A Vision Statement can be defined as a document that provides a focus for current and future direction. We have greatly valued input from students, staff and parents and will publish the Vision Statement once completed.

Year 5/6 Camp

Our Year Five and Six students are excited to be going on camp next Tuesday 7th March for 3 nights.

A reminder children will need to be at school by 8.15am as the bus is to be loaded and ready to leave by 8.45am.

Medication the school does not already have, must come to the office by 8.15am the morning of camp clearly named with correct dosage and time to be given. Teachers will pack any medication currently at Galilee for children who have an Asthma/ Allergy/ Anaphylaxis plan. If you are unsure if medication at Galilee is past it's use by date, please check at the office before Tuesday 7th March.

Late Students

A reminder to all parents and students to report to the school office before going to the classroom when you arrive late to school (after 8.50am). Classes are not always in their room and for your child's safety, we do not want them walking around the school alone.

Fees

School Fees were emailed last week. Please check both mother and father email addresses as well as your junk folder. The system only picks up one email address per family. If the total of fees are paid by the end of Term 1, a $200 discount is applicable but please remember to deduct the $200 if paying directly into the school's account. All banking details are at the bottom of the statement.

Uniform

Several students have lost their hat this term. Please check that your child's hat has their name on it. If it is another child's hat, please return it to lost property.

Classroom Helper Course

The first two sessions will run tomorrow for those who have indicated they will attend the 9.30am or 12pm session. Two more sessions will take place next Friday 10th March.

Prep 2018 Enrolments

In order to ensure your child's place in Prep 2018 is secured we need to have their Enrolment Application Form completed and either delivered to the office or emailed to Wendy at wdalton@gsmelbournesth.catholic.edu.au  by FRIDAY MARCH 10
