Events and Fundraising Committee AGM Wednesday 22 November 2017 ALL WELCOME
The Events and Fundraising Committee is a group of parents at Galilee that prepare and run events for our families and students.
There are two main aims of the committee:
1. To provide opportunities for our families to come together to create a sense of community and belonging
2. To raise approximately $20,000 each year for the school to spend on upgrades/resources as the school sees necessary
This year we have had a very enthusiastic group of parents working behind the scenes to make all these events possible with amazing parent volunteers who help at each event (Welcome BBQ, Easter Raffle, Mothers Day morning tea & luncheon, Movie & Disco Night, Trivia Night, Parent night at the Emerald, support for the Art Show and the Carols Picnic coming in December). Whilst enthusiastic, this has also been a small group of parents the Committee driven by our Chair Sally C. In 2018 we need more volunteers to come along to meetings, put their hand up for events and to provide ideas and support.
There will be a revised structure to how the events at Galilee operate in 2018:
- We are going to establish a stand alone group to organise the Trivia Night and that will be their only focus for the year. Anyone interested in this - please let us know.
- Most events and social gatherings for the year are also going to be delegated to year levels to coordinate and run with the support of the Events and Fundraising Committee.
Our annual AGM will be held on Wednesday 22 November at The Emerald Hotel on Clarendon Street from 7pm. Some parents will be stepping aside from their roles on Committee next year due to other commitments so it would be a great opportunity for some new faces to come along. Join us to hear what happens, have a laugh and a glass of wine together.
For any parents who are concerned about time commitments, or worried that they are going to be asked to do too much, please be assured that it is a welcoming groups of parents who understand the pressures of family and work. There are no expectations on your time and we all do what we can do to the best of our ability. It would also be wonderful to hear from parents who have skills and contacts that they can offer but can’t commit to meetings. Meetings go for about an hour approximately every month and are usually in the evenings as many parents are working. We meet at local pubs which allows us to have a social drink together and sometimes share a meal. There are many laughs and amongst it all lots of planning and decision making is made!

The I'm Just A Man | Men's Mental Health Awareness Gala Dinner gathering, raises awareness and funds for men's mental health on the night of Michael Hutchences' 20 year anniversary since his passing.
I’m Just a Man“, was inspired by Dr Jim Skivalidas when he recently lost his livelihood and then almost his life. So impacted by this moment, Dr Jim banded together with an impassioned and dedicated group of strangers to bring this event to life.
A night of passion, speakers, dinner, music and so much more.
All profits to be donated to beyondblue and Movember, as we are fundraising for both.
