Year 1 'Mini Boss' Incursion

The Year 1 students enjoyed an incursion on Tuesday called 'Mini Boss'. Students were invited to create their own chocolate shop. They were asked to work in teams to design, plan and budget for their chocolate shop. Each team had to submit their work before they were allowed to start their chocolate creations. There was a real buzz in the room as they worked together. They all loved the day and were able to put into practice the learning that they have been doing around money.  We thank the Year One teachers for organising this fantastic opportunity for the students.

Congratulations to our Mathemagicians this week, Thomas in 3C and John Paul in 3R.  These two boys completed the Number Intervention programme with me in the first half of this year.  They have continued to work hard in Maths all year and have achieved very pleasing results in their recent testing. Keep up the great work, boys. We’re very proud of you!

What do the kids say about Number Intervention?

In Terms 3 and 4 this year, I have worked with a group of Year One and Two students to help them to improve their knowledge and skills in Number.  Maddie and Jock in 1C have completed these self-reflections about their learning in Number/Maths:

Parent Helper Programme

Our Parent Helper Programme is off to a wonderful start in Prep, with noticeable achievements in Number already being noted by our Prep teachers. A big thank you to the parents/grandparents who are giving up their time to help!  Parents and Carers, remember to contact me via email to register your interest in the Parent Helper in Maths training course for 2018.

Year 2 'Clip and Climb' excursion

As part of our STEAM unit this term in Year 2, 'How can we be healthy, safe and active?' the students attended an excursion to Clip ‘n’ Climb in Richmond on Tuesday. The excursion linked with the areas of the Victorian Curriculum listed below:

  • -Identify and explore natural and built environments in the local community where physical activity can take place.
  • -Practise strategies they can use when they need help with a task, problem or situation at home and/or at school
  • -Recognise situations and opportunities to promote their own health, safety and wellbeing.

The students challenged themselves on a variety of activities and all returned to school with much excitement about the day. We thank the Year 2 teachers for organising the excursion for the students.
