GR8 Persuasive Writing @ MCC

I love the smell of Naplan in the morning. Yes, it is that time of year again. In order to prepare our students for Naplan’s arrival, both the English and HSIE faculties swing into action through a series of workshops on both narrative and persuasive writing styles which are featured in Naplan. Last term English led the charge with narrative with HSIE following up this term with persuasive writing workshops in each Year Nine HSIE class. Students this term will be studying Australia’s involvement in World War One and Two so it was fitting for students to investigate a significant date in our National calendar - ANZAC Day. The young historians were given the task of convincing their peers of the relevance of ANZAC Day in contemporary Australia - a daunting task to be sure! But they approached it with vim and vigor. A range of persuasive techniques was covered during the workshops in order to further develop their ability to write persuasively. So if your children come home and are asking you for something and you find yourself agreeing with them I and the HSIE faculty will consider that an indication of a job well done!

Good luck to all students in Year Seven and Nine completing Naplan next week.
