Banna Lane Mural Excursion

Thirty five Visual Arts students attended the Banna Lane Mural Festival on Friday 9th May . These Year Seven students were lucky enough to see the beginnings of the murals and meet the festival organisers Grace Dewar, Carrah Lymer and the artists themselves, who generously gave time to answer questions.

The festival includes street art made in five days by six artists; Guido van Helten, Ian McCallum, Cory McKenzie, Bronte Naylor, Brett Piva and Cooper Crothers. Artists shared snippets of their history, concepts and processes with the students.

We all look forward to the finished works on Monday (depending on the rain!). I encourage the students to view the murals again in their own time and to take photographs of these monumental works. It is also hoped that Banna Lane murals will be an ongoing project. Stay tuned for part two…
