From the Principal's Desk

Janine Kinninment - Principal

Dear Parent/Carers

Thank you to the families who have responded to our recent school survey sent out via email.  This information will be used by the school to plan for Term 3 procedures. I urge anyone yet to complete this survey to do so as soon as possible. https://forms.office.com/Pages/ResponsePage.aspx?id=-RaA4P3Ru0yDsLdutDYWJ-dGoL33DodCnHLoaQgbzXJUMTdJTjgxNlRUNzZLUUFNMFgySFA2UEtGNy4u

Staff will be collating parent, student leaders and staff suggestions in Week 1 to determine our school processes for the remainder of this year. In the meantime, the first week of Term 3 will operate in a similar manner as this last week of term in Phase 4. I am expecting Phase 5 (no two metre rule) to begin when school resumes.

Students and staff return to school on Monday 20th July. Over the holidays we will continue to improve our school. Some of the works being done are the upgrade to the student toilets of Magpie and Cygnet Block, new taps throughout the school (a safer push button style) and new operative walls in Rooms 4/5, Rooms 23/24 and Room 17/18.

As part of COVID-19 our extra cleaning during the day will continue as recommended by the Department of Health and supported by the Department of Education. All school staff are currently completing risk management training as part of our Worksafe Improvement Recommendations. I would like to acknowledge our school officer, Mrs Tracey Walker, for the huge task of ensuring ChemAlert is current for our school and our staff are knowledgeable on the use, safe handling and first aid of any product within our school environment that contains chemicals. This includes classroom products such as hand sanitiser, soap, glue, textas, whiteboard cleaner etc.

Our school will have the half day close on the first Wednesday of Term 3, 22nd July from 12 noon. Selected parent/carers have already been contacted via email or phone to schedule a parent interview. If you are yet to do so, please return the printed form sent out on Monday to your child’s teacher, so we can organise what is happening for your child after 12 noon on the 22/7/20. Children will not be able to leave the school grounds without this information.

We will be recommencing some of our sporting events with the first being cross country for Year 3 – Year 6 in Week 3, Friday 7th August. I am looking forward to parents/carers joining us to cheer their child on as they run the track at Burrendah Reserve. It would be great if students could use the holiday break to work on their fitness for this event. More information will be available from Mr Crouch early next term.

In Term 3 we are increasing our classrooms by an additional senior class in Room 2.  A number of Year 4, 5 and 6 students are changing classrooms as part of this restructure. Families involved in this restructure have been notified by phone.

From Term 3 on Mondays and Wednesdays Mrs Taylor will teach her lessons in the scheduled classroom rather than in Room 2. On Tuesday’s Mrs Taylor will teach in the school hall. On Monday Ms Loss-Suehrcke will teach Italian in the scheduled classroom rather than Room 2. For the rest of the week Ms Loss-Suehrcke will teach in the school hall.

Junior and Senior Choir will commence in the Music room from Term 3. IMSS will continue as scheduled on a Monday in the school hall. Area's for other IMSS lessons remain unchanged.

I wish everyone a relaxing holiday for those who can have the time away from work. I look forward to seeing everyone back safe and healthy in Term 3.
