Message from Mr Russo

Dear Parents

Click here for my weekly video message.

Welcome back to term 3 after our extended holiday break. The staff were working hard last week to set up for our new remote platform for learning during this time. In these times we are now all wearing masks – our staff are able to teach and be online without wearing these. For those onsite, our staff once again will be providing support without a mask but will be wearing masks at all other times, including yard duty.

Remote Learning 2.0

By now we have all undertaken a number of days of remote learning. You will notice a number of changes this time round in response to feedback from families, students and staff from our first experience of remote learning in Term 2. This revised approach is designed to support families, students and the staff in achieving positive learning and teaching experiences for all.

Technology

Due to the increased number of onsite remote learners this time around and the increased demand from families our supply of Chromebooks is now exhausted. We can offer iPads to families as we still have a number of these to loan. Please contact the office if you would like to loan and iPad.

School Fees

For those in our community who find themselves in an unexpected difficult financial situation, please make contact with me  by phone or via my email address: Tel:9580 4518 or Principal@sbmord.catholic.edu.au so that alternate plans can be arranged in relation to fee payments and/or pre-existing direct debit commitments. Unemployment or reduced remuneration is a reality given the changes that are being imposed from our government/s and we are here to support families who are effected by unexpected changes to employment.

Principal Appointment Process

As you are aware, I am leaving St Brigid’s at the end of this term and the process for employing a new Principal has begun. Parent feedback is sought and this has been extended to you via Caremonkey. This invitation closes tomorrow at 3.00pm.

Art Challenge

Toys! It has been great to see how creative our students have been, photographing scenes made up with their toys at home. Some of these look like scenes out of movies! Some of the examples shared with us are in this week’s newsletter.

Congratulations

Congratulations to Tahlia in Year 6 who is making masks and selling these in her local community and donating the funds to the Monash Covid research fund.

Garden Guru

Congratulations to Xavier in Year 2 who has organised himself a small mowing job looking after the lawns of his neighbours. Xavier saved an old push/pull mower from the curb side rubbish collection, repaired it and also learned how to sharpen the blades for greater efficiency. Xavier is now looking after a patch of turf here at school – in an environmentally friendly way!  Click here to see Xavier in action!
