20th Sunday in Ordinary TimeYear A

16 August 2020

“Woman, your faith is great.”

In Sunday's Gospel, Jesus talks to a woman from a different country and, even though, they are very different people, he helps her because of her faith. Who, in your life, would you consider to be a  stranger? Maybe a person you haven’t met yet or a person you have judged to be 'different'.  The woman in this week’s story from Matthew’s gospel (15: 23-28) is a stranger and a foreigner and the last person anyone would expect to try and find Jesus. She displayed great faith.  It was her faith that saved her and healed her daughter.

I have the privilege, as REC, to visit and work with all students across our beautiful school at regular times.  It always inspires me to listen to the students and their 'take' on society and our current climate.  The following video clip brings home the point that 'faith' can be in the littlest of ideas:

With a lot of illness in our School Community at present, we will not physically attend Mass this Friday - rather, students will participate in Class Liturgies.  You will be updated in the next week's newsletter regarding any changes.

St Brigid's Parish Mass times:  Saturday Vigil 5pm     Sunday 9:30am - All welcome.

Gracious God,

We give thanks anew for your providence and presence.

We prayerfully seek your grace, amidst COVID-19 here and overseas.

We pray for those in need of healing.

We pray for your peace with those who are anxious or grieving.

We pray you will continue to strengthen and sustain all those who are serving in response.

We pray for your Holy Spirit’s discernment amidst the many choices and decisions facing our national, community and medical leaders.

We pray we each might see quickly what more we can do to help those who are vulnerable.

This prayer for our nation in the family of nations, with all that is on our hearts, we gather now and pray through Jesus Christ our Lord,

Amen.

God bless,

Mrs Wendy Rheinberger
