A Message from the Principal

Mrs Pauline Long

Dear Parents and Carers,

Last week I attended a Principals’ Meeting in Tamworth. We spent time reflecting on the successes of our school and the challenges we need to plan for in the future. As a school we are constantly trying to improve the education we provide your children and this requires careful reflection and planning. I feel blessed to be part of such a dedicated school community. Our students are performing well academically due to the collaborative planning, expert teaching and ability of the staff to cater for individual needs.

Education is also a partnership with our parents and carers and we encourage you to be involved in your child’s education. One simple way is to read the  ‘Focus on Learning’ section of the newsletter each week and ask your child about his/her learning.  All the students should be able to answer the five learning questions which all schools in our diocese use on a regular basis.

What are you learning?

How are you going?

How do you know?

How can you improve?

Where do you go for help?

Today we welcomed Trish Mitchell the Mathematics, Subject Matter Expert, from the Catholic Schools Office to advise and guide teacher planning in Mathematics. We also looked carefully at the role of Assessment to guide teaching and learning.

Sharing ideas is vital to teacher planning.
Sharing ideas is vital to teacher planning.

With so much sickness around at the moment I thank our parents for keeping sick children at home. Hopefully, as the weather warms up we will have more consistent attendance from all our students.

Have a wonderful week,

Take care and be safe.
