“ There are only two ways to live your life.  One as though nothing is a miracle.  The other way is as though everything is a miracle." Albert Einstein

2021 Student Leadership Team elect

As noted in the earlier sections of Woodchatta congratulations to our 2021 Student Leadership Team elect who were identified this week in preparation for their tenure of leadership of the College.

For these newly elected leaders some of their early responsibilities will include a Strategic Planning Day on Friday 4 September at Oxford Falls and a Speechcraft Course sponsored by the SPX Old Boys Association over the Term 3 – 4 school break.

Year 12 Trials

Year 12 will commence their HSC Trials in the coming weeks. The College wishes all these students well.

Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Children’s Day Tuesday 4 August

As we celebrated this important date on our Reconciliation Action Plan calendar, our Year 10 Flag custodian Bailey Perkins raised our large Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander flags on the main assembly area.   We have a number of initiatives planned to both raise awareness and affirmative action in celebrating and giving due respect to our First Nation peoples and the traditional Cammeraygal owners of the land on which the school stands.

Year 7 PDHPE Reded Creative Dance

Year 7 students commenced their Creative Dance program during their triple PDHPE lessons at Oxford Falls on Tuesday. Fittingly a component of the Dance choreography on which the will be assessed is themed on indigenous dance styles and expression. The opportunity to embrace their understanding of space, time, dynamics and rhythm in movement was encouraging and will be enhanced throughout the four week program.

Long Reef SLSC Junior Lifesaving Awards

Congratulations to Liam Thomson of Year 9 who was last week celebrated by his Long Reef Surf Life Saving Club as their prominent Junior Life Saver of the 2019 – 2020 season. Liam also represented the College in a July holiday Reconciliation Action Plan trip to the Warrumbungles region of the Kamilaroi land. Liam, Patrick Mulheron and Mitch McGrath, all of whom play in the U/15s Rugby Squad placed a message of hope for reconciliation at the site of the Myall Creek Memorial as ambassadors of the College.  As the truncated ISA season progresses the 15s age group hope to celebrate an “indigenous round” wearing their NZ Tour Reconciliation jerseys.
