Staff Introductions

My role at BCS: I am a final year pre-service teacher working on finishing my final prac placement (after this I’ll be a fully-fledged classroom teacher).
Qualifications: Once I have finished my prac I will have finished my undergraduate bachelor's degree in Primary Education. I’ve been accepted to start my masters at the end of August with Deakin University in Melbourne.
My career: I’m hoping to score a full-time job somewhere locally in the near future. Beyond that, I guess I’ll see where life takes me.
Experiences: Life has been a bit of a rollercoaster for me over my 24 short years. I lost my dad to a brain tumour when I was 17 and that has been the driving force behind my determination to collect accolades and positive experiences. I have been afforded lots of amazing opportunities, including the Teach.Rural scholarship and intend to make the most of everything life throws at me.
Why I became a teacher: I struggled a lot academically in school (mostly with mathematics) and I hated that feeling. I love the feeling of overcoming academic struggle (that ‘ah-hah!’ moment) and I wanted to give as many kids as possible, the opportunity to feel the same way.
Favourite teaching successes: Every little ‘ah-hah!’ moment is a teaching success in my book, but my favourite line is “I never ‘got it’ until you explained it to me like that.”
Why I love teaching at Boorowa Central School: The staff are incredibly supportive and do anything within their power to help you feel supported and welcomed. The students are always up for a chat and are so supportive of each other both in the classroom and in the playground.
Something you do not know about me: I finished school thinking I wanted to be a nurse, but actually went the whole way through a hairdressing apprenticeship instead. So I’m actually a qualified hairdresser and beauty therapist (not that you can tell!)
