Leadership Report

Dear Families,

We are really proud of all the students transitioning to remote learning again. The participation rate of check-ins and submissions is at its all-time highest. Thank you to the families for supporting our students through their learning. I would also like to thank the parent community for providing such detailed feedback. The teachers critically analysed this feedback to refine and make relevant changes to meet the needs of our learning community. The teachers have once again been incredible in the way they have been able to change their program so drastically and a testament to their hard work and dedication.

This Principal report contains some very important information, please ensure that you are familiar with it.

SENTRAL

We have noticed that some families do not have the latest version of SENTRAL. When you open the SENTRAL application it should look like the photo below. If it doesn’t you must update your app. If you need help with updating, please contact the office for support.

The SENTRAL application has a calendar of upcoming events, provides important school notifications. As previously discussed, if you need to message your teacher directly, about your child’s learning, it needs to be through the SEESAW application.

School Reports

Families will receive school reports TODAYThese reports are digital and can only be accessed through the SENTRAL application. Due to COVID-19 and Department of Education Guidelines, these reports will look different. The report will contain a general literacy, mathematics, inquiry and specialist synopsis. The report does contain Home Group Teacher Comment which discusses your child's strengths as a learner and how they embody our school values and keystones into their learning. As there are no progression points on this report, we highly recommend you attend next Wednesday’s Parent Teacher Interviews.

Parent-Teacher Interviews

If you have not already booked in your time for next Thursday’s 30th of July Parent Teacher Interviews, we recommend you do this immediately as you will not be able to book in a time after Monday 27/07/2020. Families will receive an email by Tuesday with a link for the interview. We recommend that parents join the meeting five minutes early and wait for the teacher to join the meeting, While the teacher will discuss your child’s social, emotional and academic growth, we recommend that parents come with any questions they would like further knowledge about. Due to timing restraints, these interviews will only last fifteen minutes and are unable to go any longer. If you require extra time outside of the interview, please contact your teacher on SENTRAL.

Ross

Our fearless leader will be away for the next three weeks as he recovers from an important surgery. It may or may not be an emotion transplant. The office will be a lonely place without him but we wish him all the best for a healthy recovery and a painless return to work. Watch out for the get well soon video Learning Experience. We hope to see him smile for the first time.

Onsite Learning

Please remember for all families that work in essential services or meet the requirements to have their students working on-site, You must complete the Remote Supervision form which is available on our school’s website.

Unaccompanied Students

We understand that some of our older students who attend on-site remote learning may walk to and from school with out an adult. Firstly we think that is great and gives the children a sense of responsibility. We just want to remind those parents that if your child presents at school with temperature or cold like symptoms you will be contacted, and expected to collect your child from school - no exceptions.

2021 Newlands Primary School Students

We have been blown away by the amount of interest the school has gathered and the number of Enrolment forms we have already received. If you know of any families that plan on joining our learning community at Newlands Primary School in 2021 please remind them that we need enrolment forms back by the 30th of July. As school tours have been cancelled, we have a virtual information night on Wednesday the 5th of August at 7:00 pm. Families need to fill out an expression of interest form which can be found on our website to receive the invite link.

As always, if you need any further information or have any questions – please don’t hesitate to contact the school.

Thanks,

Acting Principal
