Inquiry Centre

Curriculum

Welcome back to Term Three! We hope you all enjoyed your holidays and were able to do some exciting activities. While Term Three is beginning in less than ideal circumstances we are excited at the opportunity to keep improving the remote learning offerings we are providing across the Inquiry Centre. We are still so very grateful for all of the support and feedback our parent community gave us, and the effort you all made working with your children at home through difficult circumstance. While it is disappointing to return to remote learning we look forward to making the best of this opportunity together.

Students will continue to use Seesaw to access their learning tasks each day. Based on feedback from the previous remote learning period we have made a few changes.

  • Daily check-ins will now be held live via Google Meet at 9:30am. This is to allow more interaction between students to help support their social and emotional wellbeing.
  • Important: There will be no Google Meet check-in on Wednesdays (Specialist Day). On Wednesday there will be a check in post for students to reply to, similar to the Term 1 Remote Learning check ins.
  • Google Meet will also be used to run small group sessions. These will begin at 12:30. Please see your classes weekly schedule on Seesaw to see what day your child's small group session will be.
  • Seesaw activities will be published at 7:30pm the night before to allow parents to view the following days tasks if they would like to.
  • On Fridays there will be a Literacy and Numeracy Choice Board. This is to allow students (and parents) to select an activity best suited to them and their interests. Only one activity needs to be completed, however if you are looking for additional activities you can choose to do more.

Similarly to the last remote learning period, it is important to remember that it is okay if you are unable to complete all of the learning tasks. If you need support, please reach out to your child’s teacher or the school via phone or email.

Parent-Teacher Interviews will be held via phone. Please be aware that some of the calls may be through a private number. If you have not booked in a time please contact your classroom teacher.

In Literacy this week, we are focusing on writing recounts and making text connections. In Numeracy, we are beginning our Multiplication Unit focusing on skip counting. We are also introducing our Guided Inquiry topic ‘Through Generations’ and our key question ‘How has life changed and stayed the same?’. Throughout this unit, students will look at the past, present and future to identify differences and similarities. On Friday we are also celebrating Indonesian Day, so keep your eyes out for Fridays activities.

Kind Regards,

Emma Honan, Aidan O’Connor, Emma Marsh, Kathy Wang, Andy Parthenopoulos, Emily Kiefte, Simone Rock and Erin Bennetts.
