CAMPS

5/6 Camp has now been postponed until Term 4 from Tuesday 1st of December to Friday 4th of December. There is one instalment due for this which has been pushed back to Thursday 22nd of October. 

3/4 Camp will go ahead as planned in Term 4 and the new instalment dates are as follows

  • Instalment 1: Mon 27th July
  • Instalment 2: Mon 10th Aug
  • Instalment 3: Mon 14th Sep

Webinar

Maroondah City Council is offering a webinar with Dr Jodi Richardson on “Anxious Kids, From Anxiety to Resilience”. In this webinar Dr Jodi Richardson will share her experience and talk about: 

 

       What is resilience? 

       What do kids need to develop resilience?

       Building distress tolerance in children.

       Why are so many kids anxious?

       What happens in an anxious brain.

       The contagious nature of anxiety. 

       How parents can better manage their own stress.

       Essential tools for parents and children to manage anxiety and more.

DET Directions for Remote Learning

The following are the daily minimum guidelines schools are expected to meet for students in Prep to 10:

 

• For students in Prep to Grade 2, schools will provide learning programs that include the following:

– Literacy activities that take a total of about 45-60 minutes

– Numeracy activities of about 30-45 minutes

– Additional learning areas, play-based learning and physical activity of about 30-45 minutes.

 

• For students in Grades 3 to 6 and Years 7 to 10, schools will provide learning programs allocated as follows:

– Literacy: 45-60 minutes

– Numeracy: 30-45 minutes

– Physical activities: 30 minutes

– Additional curriculum areas: 90 minutes

Onsite Learning Applications

Below is an application form from the Department of Education for on-site attendance. If you feel you have grounds to request your child attend school you must complete and return the attached application to the school email. This application will be reviewed and you will be informed if your application has been successful or otherwise. No child is permitted to be on the school grounds without the approval, by the school principal, through an official application.

Application forms must be submitted weekly by Thursday 3.00pm for approval for attendance the following week with a decision communicated on the Friday by 3.00pm.

 Advice from Previous Week's Newsletter

  • Hand and personal hygiene routines will continue to be reinforced and additional cleaning will continue.
  • Junior School students will use Seesaw with Senior School students using Google Classroom. Google Meet will be introduced to the Junior School for video conferencing and Senior School will continue to use Zoom for their video conferencing. Additional information will come out through emails by class teachers.
  • Students are not expected to complete all tasks and we know there are days where this is not going to happen. It's important to prioritise your family's health and wellbeing over this time.
  • All Learning Centres will have their Specialist class on one day each week
    • 5/6 on a Monday, 3/4 on Tuesday, 1/2 Wednesday and Prep on Thursday.
  • All students who attend onsite will be temperature checked. If a temperature is 37.5 or higher parents will be contacted to collect their child.
  • No student or staff is to attend school if unwell.
  • Applications from families for students to attend onsite are to be submitted before Thursday at 3.00pm. The application form is in this newsletter in Important Information.
