BOOK  WEEK

St James will be celebrating Book Week from Monday 31st August to Friday 4th September.

Book Week is a celebration of the 2020 Children’s Book Council of Australia Shortlisted books, which showcases some of the best Australian children's literature published in the past year.

The theme this year is ‘Curious Creatures, Wild Minds.’

As always, the students will be invited to dress up as a book character. This year they will share their costume and favourite book with their peers online, during a class Google Meet on Wednesday 2nd September. We may all need to ‘think outside the box’ in preparation for this one!

We look forward to providing the children with opportunities to immerse themselves in these books and many others as we continue to foster a love for reading.

If you are interested in purchasing any of these highly acclaimed texts, you might like to have a closer look at: https://cbca.org.au/shortlist-2020

SHARED STORIES

Shared Stories is a collection of students' exceptional writing and artwork from Foundation to Year 12, from 28 schools around Melbourne. This year we are proud to announce that St James will continue to make a contribution to this beautiful annual publication.

The theme this year is Respect.

The students are creating some thoughtful, memorable pieces of writing and artwork that they hope to be selected later in the year.

At this point in time, there are plans for a virtual launch in November or December, which we will live stream on the Shared Stories website. More details to follow!

We are excited to see our wonderful St James students’ talents shared in print!

ST JAMES LIBRARY & LEARNING HUB

The St James Library and Learning Hub is looking great!

New shelving has recently been purchased to enhance the space and allow the students to find the books that interest them with greater ease.

We love reading at St James!

Thank you Mrs Nicola for all your hard work. We can’t wait to recommence our weekly Library borrowing sessions with you soon!
