What's Happening

Old Fashioned Day

On Tuesday, 2 June, students in Rooms 6, 8, 9 and 10 participated in a morning of old fashioned activities. The morning was set up to conclude our History HASS topic about how people's lives have changed over time. Students enjoyed the old fashioned activities such as: the old school room, washing in the old tubs, playing games from yesteryear and making scones. Our thanks to Claremont Museum for the loan of the slates and wash boards.

At WGVPS, we have always valued 'hands on' learning and the hands on nature of this event and the opportunity for students to dress up really sparked their imaginations.

Italian News

Did you know…Republic Day, also known as Festa della Repubblica in Italian (Festival of the Republic), is a national holiday in Italy on June 2 each year. It celebrates the day when Italians voted to abolish the monarchy in 1946 so their country could become a republic.

One of the ways Italians show their pride is with a spectacular fly-past in which 9 jets leave vapour trails in the colours of the Italia flag (il Tricolore). You might also hear people calling out “Viva la Repubblica!”                                                                                                                If you like, you can listen to the very rousing Italian national anthem, ‘Brothers of Italy‘, by clicking on this link: https://watchkin.com/33c5e87139
