Marvellous Mixed-Up Fairy Tales

Did you know that Cinderella really had three evil step-pigs? Or that Hansel and Gretel did not have to fight a witch, but an evil gingerbread dragon? Or that Jack had many travels meeting the Big Bad Wolf, and the Three Billy Goats Gruff? And that Little Red Riding Hood has a texting addiction? If you answered ‘no’ to any of these questions, then you need to read our incredible stories!

Room 3 has had a wonderful time creating mixed-up fairy tales to surprise and entertain our friends. We rolled dice to find out which characters were going to star in our creations and what challenges lay ahead of them. The results were hysterical and unpredictable!

Here are some of our opening lines, if you would like to read more please come see us - we would love to read our whole stories to you!

Abby: It was a very peaceful evening and Cinderella had just pulled up in her giant orange carriage. She stepped out and walked up the stairs to the ball. She turned around and there right in front of her was a giant beanstalk.

Ciara: There was once a boy named Jack who lived in a small pathetic cottage. He lived in an uncanny house, with his evil, disappointing, ashamed mother.

Grace: In a cold, old and rusty cottage was a gingerbread lady in a warm and toasty oven.

Juniper: Most fairy tales begin with ‘once upon a time’ or ‘in a kingdom far, far away’ but not this one. This is a twisted tale, possibly the most twisted tale of all.

Elsa: Cinderella’s house was once a castle fit for a king, but has changed dramatically because of her passion.

Mia: Meadow Lane is a sweet town but most people are poor and sick.

Zavier: “Don’t go up to the mountains,” warned Snow White, “there’s a fire breathing dragon there.”

Louis: Most stories are set in cottages but this one is on top of a beanstalk.

Ally: Cinderella lived in a cave that required a special password to reveal the hidden opening. But was it always locked?

Iris: “Why aren’t you letting us in?” a tiny voice squeaked.

Niamh: “Aww, cute little goat,” mentioned the gingerbread man, “I love when you dress up.”

Kai: “Whatever you do, do not gnaw the map or even do the tiniest damage to it,” snarled the haberdasher.

Freya: The three bears’ cottage was just a mere five minute walk from the town, yet people were too lazy to visit. So you can imagine how excited they were when the postie came by.

Teddy: “How come all the other rich kids get toys and an education?” Jack exclaimed.

Fred: “Is there anyone out there?” asked the gingerbread man on his nightly walk.

Eliza: Little Red Riding Hood had heard a scary story that a dragon lived in the woods.

Ella: The forest that was behind their tattered cottage was full of dark and twisted secrets, and many evil things.
