From the Principal Class

Dear Viewbank College Community,

We are very excited to have our VCE students returning next week and have been preparing for their return.  Be reassured that the health and safety of all members of our community is paramount.

I posted a Compass news feed item on Thursday, 21st May, outlining our guidelines for student return to the College.  Please read that document carefully and have a conversation with your student about the importance of maintaining hygiene practices, social distancing where possible and easing congestion around the school and at drop-offs/pickups.

Staff are working hard to adjust back to onsite teaching and learning, whilst still providing a quality program for students continuing with remote learning.

Please bear with us as we work through yet another major transition.  We encourage you to keep the lines of communication open and contact your student’s Level Leaders if you have any queries or concerns regarding their transition back to school.

Online learning

Our Level and Program Leaders have been working hard to maintain their connection with students.  Please check out their pages for exciting news about our competition winners and other online activities.

Banyule Theatre

The Banyule Theatre site has been sitting somewhat idle for the past few years, since we opened the new Performing Arts Centre.  We have been quietly going about making the spaces useable again, working on clearing outdoor areas, painting indoors, general maintenance and cleaning.

I am very excited about the possibilities the spaces provide and will look to work with interested staff to investigate opportunities for progressive teaching and learning programs for our students.

Student Dress Code Information to College Community

Dear Parent/Guardian,

In 2019 we received extensive feedback about the College Student Dress Code from the 2019 Community Forum, Staff Consultation and Student Forums. Following this consultation a number of recommendations were made to College Council and these are in the process of being applied.

There is an extended timeline for changes as we realise that families have already invested in purchasing uniforms.  Some new optional items including a soft shell jacket, beanie and scarf will become available from 2020 and the current College spray jacket will be phased out from 2021.  The uniform items will now be represented as a list of items available to students with limited restrictions on combinations or seasonal options.

Please see attached the draft updated Student Dress Code currently under review of the College Council.

Red = Proposed changes and additions

Highlighted Yellow = Will be removed from existing Dress Code if approved by the College Council.

Please provide any feedback to College Council members via email viewbank.co@education.vic.gov.au   before Friday 29th May 2020.
