oshc & sprout 2

wominjeka everyone,

This week has been full of mix of emotions and warm feeling, despite the freezing morning!

There is nothing better to have school grounds full of laughter, joy and play, especially now that we have all our students back to school!

Just a reminder: if you need Before School Care and After School Care you must make a booking through QKenrol for a permanent booking or through MFL app for a casual booking.

This is extremely essential for ratio and resources purposes, as we are currently operating with a limited number of staff members according to our bookings, especially for ASC.

Late or emergency bookings may not be accepted if your child is not booked in.

OSHC Team will appreciate your collaboration.

Please note: you are able to check if your child is booked in through calendar in the MFL App for both permanent and casual bookings.

From the Program

Sewing Club: Doll Quilt and Pillow

The students learnt that if they press down on the foot pedal really hard the sewing machine sews really fast but when they put less pressure on the foot pedal the machine sews slower. This then allows them to have more control over their sewing. The students also learnt what wadding is, a layer of insulation between fabrics, made from wool, cotton or polyester.

Loose Parts Play Program

We have been trying out Loose Parts Play on a small scale and finding out how it goes. As soon as we pulled a few odds and ends onto the playground Students came over and starting building themselves a “Lambo” and others preferred to work and build alone.

We are now considering to extend our Loose Parts Play – if you have any thing that you think it could be used safely as a loose part in the students’ play, please contact us!

Cooking Club: Making Pizza dough

Gardening Club

Returning to school and OSHC

To support the transition back to school and OSHC in a healthy and safe environment, we are going to have few changes to our operations:

1. Restrictions on access to the school site for anyone other than immediate school staff and students: Please you use the MPR glass door from Culloden St. An OSHC educator will be in the MPR to greet and sight the parents/carers. Parents/carers will not sign in/out the children at this stage.

Please a reminder that parents and carers must walk the students to the glass door. Under no circumstances students are to walk by themselves into the program. This is against the law.

2. Students will be reminded and expected to wash their hands/ use sanitiser when:

- entering the building (including outdoor play);

- before and after eating;

- between activities.

Reminders:

1. Sick Students

If a child is unwell or present any cold/flu symptoms they must stay home. If we observe that a child is unwell, OSHC will contact the parents/carers to collect their children according to our Illness Policy. You will find a copy of our policy on the school website:

https://www.brunswicknwps.vic.edu.au/uploaded_files/media/oshc_2019_parent_handbook_ver_2.3_draft.pdf

2. Confirm your bookings

If you need care, don’t forget to make your booking requests. You will receive an offer email and you must accept the offer. If you don’t accept the offer, your bookings will not be confirmed.

3. New OSHC Bookings Required
