IDAHOBIT

International Day Against Homophobia, Biphobia, Interphobia and Transphobia

Sunday, 17 May was IDAHOBIT (International Day Against Homophobia, Biphobia, Interphobia and Transphobia), an important day celebrating LGBTIQ+ people globally, and raising awareness for global acceptance and healthy conversations.

Unable to run an on-site event, students were offered opportunities to recognise the day from home, including a photo challenge activity (see the image below for some great photo submissions!), and three of our fantastic School Captains - Kiara, Dominique and Jean - prepared and shared a special video message; Here is what they had to share about what IDAHOBIT means to the MSC community.

“It’s a day that should be replicated every other day, in which we celebrate and embrace people of all sexualities and gender identities, ensuring that they feel safe and accepted within our community.” (Kiara)

“It’s a great day of inclusion where sexuality isn’t a taboo topic like it normally is. It’s a day where we come and celebrate everyone’s different and diverse sexual orientations and identifications.” (Dominique)

“To me, it’s a day that celebrates unity and being able to celebrate who you are as a person, and express yourself; A day that celebrates what makes you, you!” (Jean)

We are proud to be an MSC Community who welcomes and shows acceptance, support and respect toward all people. For LGBTIQ+ resources or support, or for further information on IDAHOBIT, visit www.minus18.org.au
