AGTV POETRY COMPETITION - YEAR 7 STUDENTS TAKE THE BRONZE MEDALS!
SE Bayside Regional Final 2020
Congratulations to all Year 7s who rehearsed a poem or maybe read a German one for the first time and recorded themselves on Flipgrid, an App that allows for short spoken video responses.
With this App students could add and create a frame, the title or some suitable emojis.
Their speaking skills have been developing well, supported by online sound files that they could listen to in preparation for their performance.
Congratulations to Leonardo Goldberg and Thea Dodos for achieving Bronze Medals amongst all Year 7 entries of the AGTV Poetry Competition with their poem “Machen wir Frieden” von Georg Bydlinski.
Thank you to Frau Reid and Herrn Nutting for organising this event and creating an online page in support of this competition.
MAYBE ANOTHER FUTURE CAREER OPPORTUNITY FOR OUR GERMAN STUDENTS
The results of the 2020 GERMAN-AUSTRALIAN OPERA GRANT held via Zoom have been announced. This event that is sponsored by Hans A Henkell is held annually but required quite some modifications this year.
Mr Henkell expressed this in an email:
"Were it not for the famous wisdom “necessity is the mother of invention” (in German: “Not macht erfinderisch”), you wouldn’t have thought that an international singing competition with competitors from Brisbane, Adelaide, Sydney and Melbourne and with adjudicators from Melbourne and Wiesbaden could come together in virtual space, sing, interview and adjudicate all via Zoom, quite an unbelievable feat."
The winner receives a one-year contract with the ensemble at the Hessisches Staatstheater Wiesbaden, a one-month language course at a Goethe-Institut and $4500 towards expenses.

DISCOVERING PERU
This term the Year 10 Spanish class had the pleasure of learning the Past Tense in Spanish and to make their learning more enjoyable we worked on several articles about one of the most beautiful Spanish Speaking Countries in the world, Peru.
Learning a foreign language is not only about learning grammar and vocabulary, it is also about discovering and appreciating the rich culture behind the language.
If one day you dream to travel to South America you must include Peru on your bucket list.
