SAKG

It has been tricky to get on with our gardening recently, the weather has not been very co-operative!  We did manage to complete the succulent pallet which visitors to the new office will be able see.  It will look fantastic as it grows over time.

We are still looking for families who are able to become part of the group that cares for the chickens next year.  I'm trying to put together a roster for term 1 2023 before the end of this year and would very much appreciate if you can let me know if you can help out during the week or on weekends.  Chicken duty only takes around 30-45 min.

It was an exciting day for the Kitchen Garden program on Monday 14 November  as we had a visit from staff from the Stephanie Alexander Kitchen Garden Foundation who chose to feature our school kitchen and garden for a promotional photo shoot. Saskia and Richard were most impressed by our beautiful spaces and the skills of our students. We can't wait to see the photos of our somewhat belated Diwali festival in our kitchen session. The students and volunteers cooked up some dahl, Indian yellow rice and flatbreads. To finish, we made mango lassi. Thank you to whoever donated a bagful of loquats. Several children enjoyed eating this lovely fruit and took some home, too!

On Monday 12 December,  we will be holding an after-school market stall on the deck outside the kitchen (weather permitting!).  Come and have a look and support the Kitchen Program by buying excess produce from the garden and a selection of baked goods and preserves made by students, staff and volunteers in the kitchen.  It may be a nice chance to pick up some small Christmas gifts for family and friends.
