FRENCH

Tahiti

Bonjour tout le monde,

J'espère que vous passez une bonne semaine (I hope you are having a good week)

This week, to finish our topic of francophonie with the older students, I decided to tell them more about the island of Tahiti and how it was discovered. Some of you may know this beautiful place. I don't, but it is definitely one of my dreams to go there one day. Here is a short video that will make you want to go there too, I'm sure:

  • Preps

The Prep students have drawn and labelled beautiful farm animals that I will use to make a big display for next year. Their drawings will decorate the shirt of a giant horse:

  • Years 1 and 2

The students are finishing their family trees. They have learnt a new grammar concept: the use of 'ma' (for a feminine word) or 'mon' (for a masculine word) to translate the word 'my'

The students also completed the following crosswords to learn Christmas words. Why don't you have a go at home? Here are a few hints: Santa Claus is called 'Father Christmas' in France. I suggest you find the words in the following order and, by guessing a few that are similar in both languages, you should be able to complete it: 8, 2, 9, 7, and then you can guess :-) ...

  • Years 3, 4, 4/5 and 5/6

We are now finishing our study of francophonie. The students are learning about the life of Louis Antoine de Bougainville and his discovery of the island of Tahiti.
