Principal's Message

Dear parents, students and families

Today our Foundation 2023 students had their third experience of school. They all seem very settled in their school. The final Orientation Day is next Tuesday 29th November. Our Foundation 2023 students are also invited to the Teddy Bear's Picnic on Friday 2nd December at 2pm which from previous reports is a great experience.

Our Marine Ambassadors yesterday completed their program for the year, our first year providing this opportunity. Mr Sullivan said our 4 students have learnt a lot, some of which they have been able to share with the students of our school in how to look after our environment.

Yesterday I had the great honour of representing our school at the Archbishop's Celebration of Principalship with a shared Mass at St Patrick's Cathedral followed by dinner at the Park Hyatt. I feel very privileged to spend time with the Clergy and Principals of our Archdiocese celebrating the wonderful schools of our Catholic system which we lead.

Tomorrow our instrumental students will have chance to perform at the Kids on Key Concerts. The times of these concerts are 12.10 - 12.50pm  and 12.50 - 1.40 pm. Parents are welcome to attend, particularly if you have a child performing.

Our Foundation to Year 2 students who are not performing will be the audience for the first concert and Years 3-6 who are not performing will be the audience for the second concert.

This weekend heralds the change of Liturgical Year with the First Sunday of Advent.  Joy and Hope are the twin features of Advent - joy at the remembrance of Christ's birth and hope at the promise of his return. Next year our Gospel readings will be coming from the Gospel of Luke. May we be blessed and bless others during this preparation time before Christmas.

Next week we will have our annual Dynamiq Emergency Training Drill on Monday afternoon. This is an important part of maintaining our school safety through regular practice with a drill generally scheduled each term. That way, in the case of a real incident, we are actually prepared and composed.  Next Friday 2nd December we will be having our Annual House Sports as well as our Lapathon. The Lapathon raises funds for our local St Vincent de Paul chapter to help Seaford Parish families in need have a more enjoyable Christmas.

God bless

Rod Shaw

Principal
