First Aid
Asthma, Medication and Operoo
Students diagnosed with Asthma should follow the Asthma Management Plan determined by their doctor. If a preventer has been prescribed, evidence suggests that adhering to regular use reduces the risk of an acute asthma attack.
As parents and carers, you are able to access your child’s Operoo medical profile and update this when changes occur. Changes to your child’s medical status may be temporary or permanent. If, for example, your child has a serious head injury resulting in a concussion on the weekend, please update their medical profile to reflect this, and advise teachers if there are any sporting restrictions in place.
If your child’s medical condition requires any treatment outside of standard first aid, a medical treatment plan should be provided by your treating doctor and uploaded onto Operoo.
If your child is required to take medicine during the course of the school day, please ensure you complete a 'Medication Form'. You can find this form on the Parent Portal under 'Publications'. The medication must be in its original packaging, include your child’s name, and give clear written instructions. The medication must be handed in to reception at your child's relevant Campus.
Please make sure emergency contacts are up to date, that the nominated person(s) are willing and able to be contacted and, if necessary, are able to collect the student if they are unable to remain at school due to illness or injury.
