Zoo and Farm Excursions

We are going to Melbourne Zoo (Parkville) on Tuesday 22nd November and Myuna Farm on Monday 28th November as part of our Living Things Unit of Inquiry. Both excursions are now on Qkr ready for permission and payment. 

Payment for Melbourne Zoo is due by Wednesday 16th November.

Payment for Myuna Farm is due by Monday 21st November.

On both excursions, the bus will be leaving by 9.10am so ensure you are at school early! We will be letting students into the classroom at 8.50am to make sure we are ready to leave on time.

The excursion will be going ahead no matter the weather. If rain is forecast, please pack a raincoat (no umbrellas please!) and sunscreen if the weather is warm. Students must be in full school uniform including a school hat.

Students need a small backpack that they will carry around all day. It needs their snack/lunch and water bottle. Students do not need their reading folders on the excursion days or their normal school bags. No students will be allowed to buy a souvenir or food – so do not pack any money for them.

Stem Incursion

In week 7, we are very excited to be having a STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics) Incursion! We will be using our creativity and imagination to create things using mathematical and science concepts. This is a half day incursion, with payment being $15. Please search for ‘Create IT STEM Incursion’ on the QKR app to access the payment for this incursion. Payment is due by November 7th. 

Pet Visit Appointments

This term we are learning about Living Things. If you have a pet at home, we would love to see it! Please let your child's teacher know and we will be able to arrange a suitable time for a short visit (10-15 minutes). 

If it is not possible to bring your pet to school, please send a photo or short video to your child's teacher and they will be able to talk about their pet in Show and Tell time."

Math Strategy Help Videos

The Vermont Primary School STEM team is proud to finally be able to share our maths strategy help videos with the school community. You will have access to these videos via the link below and be able to support your child across a range of areas in Mathematics. The website will be updated with more help strategy videos as we create more in the future. 

We ask that parents do not share the videos or individual logins with anyone. Usernames and passwords will given to students early next week.
