Welcome to another newsletter, marking the end of week 5! As we approach the half way (almost) mark of the term, it feels like we are heading into the busiest time of the year. We have had a flurry of activity, with many year levels going on excursions or having special events at school. Teachers have also been busy working on class placements for students in 2023, and I would like to thank those people who wrote to Level Leaders with requests for consideration by the due date of October 28th. We hope to be able to share news of teacher placements soon, but we are still working through some recruitment processes.
This week, Year 6 student leaders led a series of activities across the school, involving all students from each level. This is a wonderful way for our senior school leaders to build their skills in communication, organisation and public speaking as well as developing their confidence and creativity. The students took control of activities, and demonstrated their maturity and interpersonal skills in an engaging way. It was great to wander through classrooms and observe the way these exceptional young leaders were interacting with students and teachers. Congratulations to these students, and to Mrs Prentice who coordinated the day. Be sure to check out the report on the day in the Student Leaders Page.
Last night we held a hugely successful maths evening for parents. The STEM team worked tirelessly to provide families with the opportunity to come along and see how Mathematics is taught at Vermont Primary School, sharpen their own maths skills and share some exceptional resources that have been created by the Vermont PS team. For the families that attended, it was a highly engaging evening, and an opportunity to celebrate the exceptional work that happens at our wonderful school.
A huge thankyou to Mr Wastie, Ms Hannink and team for putting together such a great learning opportunity for our school community.
Over the coming weeks, we will be updating our bank of policies and information resources relating to the Child Safety Standards. These can be found on the school website, here. We encourage families to view this important information.
We hope you all have a wonderful weekend, and will see you back here in two weeks!
Kind regards,
Jess, Joy and Jacci.
