Principal's Report

As you may be aware, our school received $31.77 million in the 2022-23 Victorian State Budget to modernise and expand Staughton College’s facilities. This will give our students better learning opportunities and create places for an extra 400 local students. The project will also replace temporary buildings and build more permanent classrooms.
We have worked with the Victorian School Building Authority (VSBA) and architects from Gray Puksand to develop a spatial analysis plan to evaluate the constraints and opportunities of our school’s existing facilities and buildings.
We’ve also now created a masterplan - which plans out the future infrastructure needs of Staughton College. It separates works into stages, depending on our most pressing infrastructure needs.
Our upgrade is still in the early planning phase, and as it progresses, there may be variances in costs based on market trends or pressures that exist at the time. These may impact the scope of our project - but for now, we’re planning for the current project to deliver Stage 1 of the masterplan. This includes a new science, food and arts centre, and an administration and learning resource centre for specialised learning – providing state-of-the-art facilities for Staughton’s students and staff.
The masterplan also sets out our longer term aspiration for our school site (Stage 2) which is subject to future funding. Stage 2 would aim to construct a junior community – made up of general and specialised classrooms, and student amenities. Stage 2 also proposes upgrades to staff admin and support spaces, as well as a new library and classrooms. If our school receives further funding in future state budgets, we will be able to deliver Stage 2.
This masterplan has recently been endorsed by the VSBA and Staughton’s school council, and our project will now head into the schematic design stage to develop the funded Stage 1 of the project in more detail.
I look forward to sharing more exciting updates and details with you as our project progresses.
