A note from Mr Jackson

Tawny Frogmouth Fledged!

While on Tuesday a number of students enjoyed watching our Tawny Frogmouth and juvenile through binoculars, by Wednesday the nest was empty. We have been scanning the tree branches outside the 3/4 area for signs of our new fledged Tawny and parents, but have yet to discover them!

Working Bee

Add Saturday 5 November to your diary and prepare your scruffy clothes for a Working Bee between 9:00am and 12:00noon. We’ll be tackling another few tasks and are looking for those happy to help blow the Prep and 4/5/6 Area, continue to prune some bushes, lend a hand in the sustainability garden, clean the black markings on the aluminium chairs in the top playground, and more. After a hard day’s work all will enjoy a sausage for lunch!

Early Arrivals prior to 8:45am

Supervision at school begins at 8:45am. Concern has been expressed by families and staff regarding the arrival of students at school prior to this time, which has resulted in several incidents. For this reason, we will be asking students who arrive prior to 8:45am to wait quietly in the foyer.  We want our school to be safe for all and are encouraged by those who arrive and leave at the appropriate times. TheirCare provide a service for families who require to have their child supervised prior to 8:45am.

Planning for next Year

Thanks to all who have had learning friendship conversations with their children and returned the discussed form to school. This is an important time to hear and respond to students’ preferences concerning placement in their 2023 classes. While we aim to ensure that they have at least one learning friendship in the class, we believe that new classes bring opportunities for new friendships.

If there are specific requests for student placement in 2023 that are not covered in students’ identification of learning friendships, you can make a request in writing to the principal. Recognising the complexity of the process, I ask that your requests be limited to not more than three suggestions.  Please do not email teachers. Any parent requests should be sent to the school email address rosanna.ps@education.vic.gov.au. The request should include ‘2023 Class Placement’ in the subject line and be received by Monday, 31 October. Any correspondence received after this date cannot be considered.

In shaping classes, teachers make every effort to consider all factors presented, but we cannot guarantee that all requests will be accommodated. All will be considered. It is important to note that requests for specific teachers cannot be accepted.

Soiree - Book it In!

One of the celebratory moments we are rediscovering this year is our annual Rosanna Primary Instrumentalist Soiree! It is a chance for all involved in the instrumentalist program throughout the year to perform to a gathering of family and friends. All are invited to attend the event in Chandler Hall on Thursday 1 December at 4.00pm.  Please make sure you note the date in your diary

FORPS

A reminder to read the latest updates from FORPS. They are eager to gather as many people together for some end of year events! BBQ’s on Election Day and a picnic on the oval, as well as discussions around the future of the fair are all ways to support our community.

Shade Sail Update

While our installation of the posts for the shade sail have taken a little more time than we thought, we are hopeful that the installation of the shade sails themselves will happen soon. We’re looking forward to sharing a little more shade in our yard.

TheirCare Changes

We are sad to hear that Ellie will be leaving TheirCare. Monday 31 October will be her final day. I wish to pass on our thanks for her role over a number of years. She has overseen the transition to TheirCare, enabling ongoing relationships to continue. During her time she has seen a growth in numbers in the program but also the introduction of vacation care this year. We thank her for her presence with us.

COVID-19 RAT Test Update

This week we circulated another packet of RAT tests to families. A growing number of families have requested not to receive further tests. For this reason, we will not send out further tests, but make them available to families upon request. Please contact the office if you require further tests and we can send them home with you child.
