Principal's Report

GOODBYE AND GOOD LUCK TO THE CLASS OF 2019

This week is the final week for our Year 12 students, before they begin their final exams.  They were farewelled at a special P-12 assembly on Thursday 24th of October.

On November 20th students, their families and staff will attend our Valedictory night where we will formally acknowledge the end of 13 years of schooling for these students.

Our Year 12 teachers have been working very hard to support our students and they should be commended for the work and extra hours they have invested into helping our students achieve their goals. I also extend my thanks to the Head of Senior School Bree Hudson, all teachers, support staff, parents, guardians and families who have supported and encouraged these young people to achieve their goals throughout their entire time at Carwatha. It is with some sadness that we farewell these young people we have watched grow from little Year 7s and in some cases preps, in too big uniforms and with a bag as big as themselves, to young adults, through all the turmoil of teenage years.  On behalf of the whole school community, I would like to wish the class of 2019 the very best for their exams and for the future.

All unit 3 and 4 classes will be continuing for students who are currently enrolled in year 11. I ask for parental support to ensure that their children continue to attend school during this very important time. Staff will be providing students with past exams and giving them advice and instruction on how to prepare for their exams.

Our annual Arts and Technology Show was held last week.  Our students have completed some outstanding pieces of work which are proudly on display.  Thank you to all of the Arts and Technology teachers for all of the work involved in putting the show together.  Congratulations to our incredibly talented students for their outstanding work. Awards were  presented at a special ceremony and I wish to congratulate all students who have had their work displayed.

Year 10 students completed their mock interviews last week. They looked amazing in their interview attire and the feedback from the community members who carried out the interviews was that they did an amazing job, were well prepared and will make great members of our work community in the future. Thank you to Pam Naylor and Kylie Borchers for all the work they did preparing the students and organising the event.

Our prep transition program has been running this term, if you have children ready to commence Prep in 2020 please contact Mrs. Sheila Horn to organise enrolment.

I would like to take this opportunity to thank Chad Ambrose who replaced me when I was on leave. He did an amazing job and provided some invaluable advice on how we could continue to improve our great school. Chad was also extremely impressed by our school, the students and the teachers.
