Alyssa Hunter

Our 2018 Dux Alyssa Hunter was blown away by her ATAR when she received it in December. She received band 6 results in Biology, Advanced English and Mathematics along with band 5 results in Italian Continuers and Chemistry.

We spoke with Alyssa to see what her plans for 2019 are, and what she enjoyed most about her time here at Moama Anglican Grammar during her senior year.

What did you enjoy most about Moama Anglican Grammar?

The wide array of opportunities it provided to me; from school productions, to debating, to overseas trips, to travelling to Canberra and Sydney for science programs. Moama Anglican Grammar has enabled me to develop multiple diverse passions and see the incredible places that a little bit of hard work and a desire to give things a go can take you.

What are your plans for 2019?

I plan to launch straight into studying a Bachelor of Biomedical Science - Scholars Program at Monash University

What was your most valuable lesson you learnt in 2018?

That what you get out is what you put in, and thus hard work and dedication is rewarded.

What did you do to have fun during year 12?

I always loved just hanging out with my friends, and found this to be a great way to have fun and unwind from the crazy whirlwind of the HSC year. Furthermore, I found sailing my boat to be a great outlet, and focusing on a race for a few hours to be one of the few ways to take my mind off the never-ending mountain of assessments and study.

What was your favourite moment of 2018?

Seeing everyone’s euphoric faces coming out of their final exams; it was such a surreal feeling to know that after all our hard work over many years we had finished and together we were about to go off into the big wide world.

Other High Acheivers

Jordan Godfrey

What did you enjoy most about Moama Anglican Grammar?

Being exposed to a variety of different events and activities both inside and outside of the classroom.

Alexandra Dwyer

What did you enjoy most about Moama Anglican Grammar?

The strong sense of community and support I received at Moama Anglican Grammar was a standout. Knowing I had both a cohort and group of teaching staff that was there for me during an academically challenging year was invaluable to me. Each and every teacher wanted you to achieve your personal best within your results and were selfless in helping me and other students in attaining this, such as through giving up lunchtimes to go over concepts within coursework, organising times within school holidays to run extra classes and collecting and marking exams, essays etc. Also, I was very thankful and lucky to have a Year 12 cohort that was extremely close and kind, ultimately making my final year more enjoyable as I knew I could easily have a conversation, expand my friendships and ask them for help.
