Are you passionate about sport and would love to work in the sports industry in the future? Not sure if you would like to go straight to university after school? Enjoy playing sport and hands-on learning? The following is a program running at Melbourne and Albury-Wodonga you may like to explore:

Richmond Institute of Sport Leadership: This is a partnership program between Richmond Football Club and Swinburne University. As part of the 12-month program, students will:

Receive a Diploma in Sports Development and a Diploma in Leadership and Management from Swinburne University (only a Diploma in Sports Development at the Albury-Wodonga campus)

Be taught by industry experts such as the CEO of the Richmond Football Club and the Head Coach of the Australian Diamonds (Netball)

-Complete strength training and sports skills development each week

-Have access to employment and industry placement opportunities

-Have guaranteed access into some Swinburne University courses with credit.

Westpac Young Technologists Scholarship: If you are passionate about technology and/or computer science and will be studying a university degree in a related field in 2019, you may be eligible to apply for the Westpac Young Technologists Scholarship. The scholarship supports undergraduates who are keen to become the tech innovators of the future.

Dentistry at La Trobe University: Students applying for the Bachelor of Health Sciences in Dentistry/Master of Dentistry degree at the Bendigo Campus can receive up to 15 ATAR bonus points (depending on where they live). Interested in studying law in the future? The Melbourne Law School is running the Melbourne JD Showcase on 26 September. The Showcase is designed to give Year 10 to 12 students an interactive experience, combining sample law classes on topics of interest with information about Melbourne Law School and the JD degree. At this one day workshop, expert teachers will hold master classes on legal issues.

Program highlights include:

-Panel discussion with JD students

-Two Melbourne JD Sample Seminars

-An interactive session on dispute resolution.

Study university subjects in Year 12: Deakin University offer free subjects through their Accelerate program and are running the following information evenings for prospective students and their families:

APPLYING FOR UNDERGRADUATE TEACHING? Year 12 students planning to apply for undergraduate teaching degrees via VTAC will need to be aware of the selection criteria for courses. This will include:

-Subject prerequisites and minimum study scores

-CASPer Test results

-Minimum ATAR

NB: If you are only applying to Australian Catholic University, you can elect to complete the ‘ACU Teacher Selector Statement’ instead of the CASPer Test, http://bit.ly/2ewFzbT

 

Subject prerequisites

-Each course will have a minimum English study score and most will have a mathematics requirement.

CASPer Test

-You will need to register for and complete the CASPer Test by the 9th of December to be eligible for Round 1 offers, https://takecasper.com/

Minimum ATAR requirement

-Applicants will need to achieve a minimum ATAR of 70. Some universities may have a higher ATAR requirement.

-With academic and/or equity bonus points, applicants may be able to access courses below this ATAR.

Literacy and Numeracy Requirements

Students will need to register for and pass the Literacy and Numeracy Test for Initial Teacher Education Students during their teaching degree, https://bit.ly/2wzDXYg

Students applying for undergraduate teaching courses at the following NSW universities will need to complete a teaching questionnaire which can be accessed via their UAC account once they complete their application.
