In 2015, Largs Bay Primary School raised over $1300 for the Nepal earthquake. Dr.Chintamani Yogi visited our school and collected the money that we raised and spoke at assembly. He also visited Room 27 to talk more to us.
On Thursday Room 27’s little buddies came up to our class andwe gave them an Easter book that we had made. It was called ‘10 Little Hot Cross Buns'.

During Easter week, Easter Bunny visited our class and left us lots of eggs. We used some of these eggs during Maths time. We sorted them into groups of size and colour and we learnt about trusting the count and counting on. We then coloured our own pictured eggs and sorted them from largest to smallest. We definitely had fun using chocolate in Maths and we actually got to eat them during our lesson.
The Mouldy Bread Experiment
Over the next two weeks, Rooms 10 and 11 (The Hive) will be doing an experiment on the growth of germs and bacteria on a slice of white bread. This is a good experiment to do with your kids at home to show exactly how dirty their hands can get and the importance of washing your hands frequently. This experiment has 3 simple steps and all you need is 2 pieces of bread, a zip lock bag and dirty little hands.
Step 1
Get a piece of bread and wipe your hands all over it without damaging the bread.
Step 2
Put the piece of bread in a zip lock bag.
Step 3
Store the bread in a semi-dark and dry place and watch what happens over the course of a couple of weeks.
Make sure you get another piece of bread but use gloves to put it into a zip lock bag. This will act as your control piece and a comparison for germ growth. Store it the same way as you did with the one that you wiped your hands on (variable).

Today we have been doing some work on time. We got a time each to write in our books. We showed that time on a clock by putting the hour hand and the minute hand in the right places. We discussed these times with a partner. The time I was given was 12:40am. The other time I chose was 9:33pm. Then we made our own clocks and we had to put ourselves in order of the time. It was really fun. We also had to write what we would be doing at that time. So at 12:40 am I said I would be sleeping and at 9:33pm I said I would be getting ready to go to sleep.
Room 5
Room 5 & 5A received a visit from members of the community. We had a surf life saver, a paramedic and a pharmacist talk to us about what they do.
