Year 8

Year 8 News

Year 8 is at full capacity - 252 students spread across nine Homerooms. During ‘Flying Start’ last November, all students were able to meet their new Homeroom Teacher and subject teachers. This Transition period provided an excellent opportunity for the students to also meet their classmates as well as begin their Year 8 course work for Unit 1.

We welcome in to the year level six new students: Flynn Groves (8.2), Max Hoult (8.3), Chaise Mitchell (8.3), William Pearce (8.5), Nicholas Flockart (8.6) and William Pearson (8.6). We hope they enjoy being part of our school community and they will embrace the many educational and co-curricular activities on offer.

Year 8 has a compulsory curriculum course and within it a range of subjects studied by the students over the course of the year: Art, Drama, English, Geography, History, Indonesian or Italian or Language Workshop, Mathematics, Music, Physical Education, Religious Education, Science and Technology.

In the few weeks of our new school year, the students have already attended the College Welcome Assembly and participated in the House Swimming Carnival, ACC Swimming Carnival and the Hackett Mile. They have had opportunities to join the Code Club, Literature Club, Games Cove, Debating and Public Speaking teams, become a member of the school band, step in to a leadership role by becoming a Class Captain, audition for the College production, join the Athletics team for early morning training, participate in free Hockey Clinics and consider becoming a football umpire for South Metro Academy. The opportunities and experiences are endless at St Bede’s College.

In our recent House Swimming Carnival, we congratulate Charlie Wilce (Solomon) who was declared the Year 8 Swimming Champion for 2019.
