YALP
Literacy & Numeracy Support 2019
This year we welcome three new literacy and numeracy trainees to Shepparton High School. Bethlyn Hatton, Jake Maples and Emmily Sowter are with us this year to support students within our Math and English classes and also assist some students with one-on-one support through our YALP approach of Intervention. During their year, they will have training in YALP and complete a Certificate in Education Support through GoTAFE.
Since 2005, Shepparton High School has successfully delivered the Yachad Accelerated Learning Program (YALP) in order to accelerate the learning needs of our students. Through various diagnostic assessments, we are able to identify students who may have difficulty with literacy or numeracy concepts.
We use the YALP approach to support and develop the literacy and numeracy skills of these students. Selected students are withdrawn from class for ten minutes, three times a week in order to focus on an identified learning gap. If your child is selected for the YALP program, you will receive a XUNO message or email in the coming weeks. If you have any questions or concerns, please contact me by email.
