International Students

Scoresby Welcomes International Students

The first day of a new school is anxious for everyone, but more frightening for someone who speaks a new language, living in a new home and studying in a new country - a new hemisphere even.

Last week, we had six new International students from China joining our school. Their year levels vary from Year 9 to Year 11.

The students are:

Richard(Fei) Tang, Rebecca (Yinyi) Wang, Lingwen Cui (Tracy), Chenchen Huang, Xianyi Lin and Tommy (Yuchen)  Wang

Most of the students arrived in Australia about six months ago and attended a language course in Melbourne before coming to Scoresby. Even though the students have been here for two weeks, they have been enjoying the diverse courses they are offered here and they have settled in very well with the support of the staff members.

“ I was really nervous on my first day at school. I couldn’t understand much in class and I don’t know anyone in my school. Now I have made some new friends and I know what to do if I need help. I enjoy different subjects here at Scoresby and I hope to make lots of friends this year. “ Tommy Wang -  Year 11

“This is my second week at Scoresby Secondary College. Students here are very friendly and they are willing to help me when I don’t understand something. Teachers here are excellent. The teachers here will take me to my classroom when I am lost. I am looking forward to studying here for the last two years of my high school.”

Xianyi Lin - Year 11

“ I have been studying here for three months now. The school has a very nice environment for students to study and the teachers here are very nice as well. I feel safe studying here and I am glad that I have chosen the right school.”

Junhui Wang - Year 11

As our school’s numbers are continuing to grow, we expect a few more students from different countries will enrol throughout the year.
