Senior School Report
Welcome back! I’m looking forward to what will be a very successful year in 2019
Return to School
The Senior School team is here to help support our students to achieve their best. Should parents or guardians have concerns about their young person’s behaviour, attitude, or welfare, they are encouraged to contact the relevant Year Level Coordinator or myself as soon as possible. We are here to help!
Year 10 – Tom Santos
Year 11 – Sylvia Wood
Year 12 - Vicki Manioudakis
All Senior School students returned this week and looked lovely in their uniforms. We do expect that all students have a planner and are making use of it, both at school and at home. Year 10 students have begun to develop their study timetable and we request parent support in assisting students to complete regular study. As a guide:
- In Year 10, students should be completing approximately 60-90 minutes (1-1.5 hours) of study each night;
- In Year 11 students completing approximately 90-120 minutes (1.5-2 hours) of study each night;
- In Year 12 students should be completing approximately 120-150 minutes (2-2.5hours) of study each night.
Obviously, there is flexibility needed in any study timetable; importantly, students need to be completing regular home study to support their learning.
Year 12 Residential
Our Year 12 students went off to Ormond College on Monday 5 and Tuesday 6 February to experience life in a dorm. The students received information about calculating an ATAR, setting Career-related goals, achieving high results in English, different work environments and expectations, as well as an excursion into the city to investigate different companies and organisations’ approaches to sustainability. I was very impressed with the students’ dedication and the further development in their approach and application to their Year 12 studies. I look forward to working with the students further throughout 2019. Many thanks to Ms Manioudakis, Mr Eddy, Ms Haines and Mr Phillips for attending Residential and the excursion and to our guest speakers and facilitators for their work to assist our students to achieve their best.
