Junior School

Junior School Report

Welcome back to all of our staff and students to Term 2 at Scoresby Secondary College. We hope that you all had a safe and restful term break/ Easter break.

Students have returned to school looking sharp in their winter uniform (see page X of the Student Planner 2019 for detail on the correct uniform). With the colder temperatures beginning to set in during the mornings, we kindly remind students to ensure that the College jacket is worn on their way to school and whist outside of the classroom.

We hope that students have had time to reflect on their learning from last term and that along with the feedback given to them by their teachers on Parent-Student-Teacher Learning Conferences, they have set themselves some achievable but challenging learning goals. We remind students of the two workshops provided in Term 1 to equip them with various skills such as time management and how to best retain newly learnt information, which was presented by Elevate Education. We also encourage students to recall some of the valuable information presented at the ‘Growth Mindset’ session, which we look forward to seeing students apply more readily when they face new and uncertain challenges throughout their learning journey and beyond the school gates.

A great number of Junior School students have signed up for varying sporting groups, which will be heading out to compete against other schools in the area throughout Term 2. We hope that the interest shown in the first week will see our College represented in Football, Badminton, Netball and Soccer.

Excursions & Incursions

Term 2 is looking to be yet another busy time for both staff and students with many excursions and incursions taking place. Please ensure that all permission forms and payments are returned to the General office by the due date to assist with the organisation of these events.

Here are the dates for a number of key events taking place this term:

  • NAPLAN:  Tuesday 14 – Friday 24 May
  • Year 8 KIOSC: Tuesday 28 and Thursday 30 May
  • Report Writing Day:  Friday 14 June

We look forward to a fabulous and successful term for all of our students.
