Senior Sport

From the Senior Sportsmaster

I take this opportunity to welcome everyone back to the beginning of Term 3.  We are halfway through our ISA Winter Season and heading towards Finals.

Over the break a large number of staff and students gave up holiday time to represent the College in Queensland in both Football and Rugby and as you can see from the reports, both groups had great success.  It should be noted that the Rugby Team were celebrating their 24th year of involvement in the World Sport Tournament.

As we begin the second half of the season, please ensure that your boys have the correct uniform for their respective sports and that they conduct themselves in line with the values of the College and the ISA Code of Conduct.

Mr M Stearn

Football

Dear Parents and Players,  Welcome back from your break and to the recommencement of the ISA season. This weekend sees home fixtures against Oakhill College.

We would like to congratulate the College 1st XI on their successful Queensland trip where they won the High Energy Youth Tournament, defeating The Kings' School in the final.  A special mention to 1st XI Captain Christopher Woo who was acknowledged by the tournament organisers by being selected in the All Star Side.

While in Queensland we also played St Laurence's School and Ipswich side, the City Bulls.

This Wednesday evening we are stepping in to play the New Zealand Schoolboy Rep side at Macquarie University with kick off at 6.30pm.  All support welcome.

Good luck to all teams this weekend.

Football Club News

Welcome back to the second part of the season – the Finals Campaign!  We have many teams in contention to progress into the Semis and hopefully on to the Finals later in August.  We hope all the boys are keen to finish the season with a burst of enthusiasm.

The Committee wishes to thank all those boys who came along to the Football Camp during the holidays – we hear from the coaches that a great time was had by all.

We would also like to congratulate the Touring 1st XI who won the Queensland Hey (High Energy Youth) Cup in a 1-0 victory over King’s School.  We have the latest ‘Shape Tackle & Goal ‘ fanzine on our website with all the action from the tour.

A reminder that the Trivia Night contributes funds to all the College clubs to keep providing additional coaching and services to your boys, so don’t forget to book your place for the night and offer up donations, where you can.

This week we ask for game photos from the 14B,  13B & 13Cs  for the weekly ‘Full Time’ flyer. Send your photos to footballspx@gmail.com  - save this to your phone and upload those photos as soon as you take them.  We need the photos in by Sunday afternoon.
